Education Concentration Details
Program Overview
The curriculum for the online M.S. in Nursing is based on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Essentials of Master’s Education. The nurse educator concentration provides graduates with competence in applying teaching/learning principles to patients and/or students across the continuum of care in a variety of settings. Students in the nurse educator concentration require preparation across all nine essential areas linking graduate-level clinical practice content and experiences.
Delivery Format
Students complete the education concentration in an entirely online format using synchronous and asynchronous online classrooms as necessary.
Two Flexible Options
Students have a full time and part time progression option. Full time students can complete the program in 4 consecutive semesters. Part time students can complete the program in 6 consecutive semesters (including summer). Students can begin in Fall, Spring, or Summer.
Practicum Courses
Students in the education concentration will complete 270-315 practicum hours throughout the program in a variety of settings. The required practicums will be completed in the student’s local community, unless there are no local sites that meet eligibility criteria. Students will identify practicum sites of interest through a formalized process facilitated by the course instructor. The course instructor will work closely with the faculty member (course instructor) and the legal department at Frostburg State University to ensure that an affiliation agreement is finalized prior to the practicum experience that is mutually agreeable to both parties.
